The capital of the Basque Country is today a modern and vibrant artistic city, but its roots are seated upon its former industrial glory and its proud Basque heritage. There are so many things to do, see and try out here that it is easy and fun to get lost here... Try on your own and walk!

Visit the Art District and see the Puppy Statue of Jeff Koons, the giant spider Mamen made by Louise Bourgeois, and the Tall Tree and the Eye, both from Anish Kapoor. All of them are under the shiny shade of the incredible Guggenheim Museum, designed by Frank Gehry in a metal, futuristic, and reflective ship-like architecture to house contemporary works of artists like Andy Warhol, Richard Serra, and Mark Rothko. See the Church of San Vicente de Abando, an example of sixteenth-century Basque Gothic architecture. Please have a look at the beautiful Abando Rail Station, known for its great wall of stained glass with images of city attractions and various aspects of Basque culture.

Across the river Nervión, be fascinated by the beautiful Arriaga Theater, inspired in the Opera of Paris. In 1890, it was named after the Bilbao-born musician Juan Crisóstomo Arriaga, a child prodigy not very different from Mozart. Pass the Plaza Barria and step into the Casco Viejo, the old town of Bilbao and see the Egyptian-styled Fountain of the Dogs. Hold your head high for the gothic Catedral de Santiago, dedicated to St. James. Have some quality time in Bilbao, for a walking tour from the Guggenheim Museum until the Old Town, in a time travel adventure from the futuristic, to the medieval historical times.

The Basque coast is a wild and natural place full of tradition and good gastronomy. We will start from the center of Bilbao along the right bank of the river and leaving the other side of the estuary the industrial towns of Barakaldo, Sestao, and Portugalete.

Once in Getxo, we reach the famous Hanging Bridge, where we make a brief stop for those who want to climb on it from above has breathtaking views magnificence cas.

We travel to pass through the imposing Castle Butron with 45 meters high, and Mungia. From here, we head for the coast to San Juan de Gaztelugatxe, a wonderful chapel clinging to a rock and envelope by the sea.

We will proceed along the coast to the typical fishing village of Bermeo, where we stop to visit. Then get up the coast to Mundaka, where we can enjoy its beauty and magnificence cas delight with views of the Biosphere Reserve of Urdaibai. 

We followed the trail to reach the symbolic town of Gernika and visit its famous Opera House and Tree Boards.

We will enjoy a panoramic city tour of the highlights of this famous town, including the lighthouse, beaches, old port, casino, Sea Museum, Rocher de la Vierge, and Hôtel Du Palai's former summer residence of Napoleon. 

We continue the route along the coast to arrive in the beautiful village of St. Jean de Luz, where we will visit on foot the most exciting areas with their historic buildings and standard port. 

We continue along the coast to reach Hendaye, a village situated at the mouth of river Bidasoa and just opposite Hondarribia, where we will cross the Bay from France to Spain into a small boat. Once in Hondarribia, we will have free time for lunch.

In the afternoon, we will continue the route to San Sebastian, where we will enjoy a panoramic tour of the most exciting areas, avenues, bridges, Walk of la Concha, etc ... including the views from Mount Igeldo and a walking tour into the typical old town, full of history with its most emblematic buildings as the Church of the Virgen del Coro, Town Hall, Old Port, Aquarium, etc. Return to Bilbao overnight.

We will head directly to Vitoria via the highway. The route reveals the mountainous landscapes until reaching the plateau with its forests of oak and beech. 

In Vitoria, we will relish a scenic tour of the city, including all the most recent areas. Then we stop at the old town for a walking visit. 

From here, we continue the route through various towns of Araba until we finally pass Labastida, and we arrive in Laguardia, a well-known historical and monumental charming village of Rioja Alavesa with great wineries. We will enjoy the ancient streets, the lordly houses, and the two fortified churches. 

Free time for lunch in one of its typical restaurants; our guide will provide suggestions and possibilities of restaurants. Return to Bilbao.

We can prolong your trip to any desired destination or provide the transfer to the airport/train station to catch your flight back home.
