Driving: 460 km, approx. 9 hours | Difficulty: Easy

Our adventure begins with a scenic drive from Tbilisi to the legendary region of Upper Svaneti. Along the way, we visit the Dadiani Palace in Zugdidi and stop at the impressive Enguri Dam, one of the world's highest arch dams (271.5 meters). As we ascend into the Caucasus, the landscape transforms, revealing the first glimpses of Svanetian defensive towers. We overnight in a comfortable guesthouse in Mestia, preparing for the trek ahead.

Trekking: 16 km, 6 hours | Difficulty: Moderate

We begin the actual trek with a hike to the Mulakhi community of Zhabeshi. The route follows a well-marked trail through rolling hills and offers a gentle introduction to the region's pastoral beauty. We stay overnight in a local guesthouse with shared facilities, experiencing authentic Svan hospitality.

Trekking: 10 km, 6 hours | Difficulty: Moderate

After breakfast, we start our journey into the wilderness. We hike up to the slopes of Mount Tetnuldi, passing through birch forests and rhododendron bushes before descending into the alpine meadows where Adishi village sits. This picturesque village, with its stone towers set against a backdrop of high mountains and a roaring river, offers one of the most scenic overnight stops on the route.

Trekking: 17 km, 8 hours | Difficulty: Hard

This is the most challenging and rewarding day. We begin by following the river before crossing the fast-flowing Adishi River on horseback for safety. The ascent to the Chkhunderi Pass (2,655 m) rewards us with panoramic views of the Adishi Glacier. After descending to the valley, we pass the historic ruins of Khalde village before reaching Iprali for the night.

Trekking: 10 km, 5 hours | Difficulty: Moderate

Our final hiking day takes us through traditional Svani villages, passing Kala and Davberi before arriving at Ushguli from above. We explore this UNESCO World Heritage site, visiting the 12th-century Lamaria Church and a local ethnographic museum. After the walk, we drive back to Mestia for a comfortable overnight stay.

Trekking: 5 km, 2 hours | Driving: 8 hours | Difficulty: Easy

We start the day with a short hike to the Chalaadi Glacier, following the Mestiachala River to its source. After this final nature experience, we return to Mestia and begin the journey back to Tbilisi, concluding an unforgettable highland adventure.
